Whenever I see my students around exam times, they say they spend every minute of the day studying or sleeping, so I highly doubt club classes are being held.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16668364113404409861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8514554862560409296.post-83955565417067090512014-04-19T20:06:18.227+09:002014-04-19T20:06:18.227+09:00Creeping on your school. Do your club activities get canceled whenever there is a midterm/final in the horizon?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10779192505963447791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8514554862560409296.post-79484051241144597482012-09-05T07:51:27.171+09:002012-09-05T07:51:27.171+09:00Yeah, Asian education, man! I just haven't seen any evidence of them yet lol.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16668364113404409861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8514554862560409296.post-64297416605708430512012-09-05T07:50:16.436+09:002012-09-05T07:50:16.436+09:00Oops! I asked another teacher yesterday, and she informed me that there were clubs (academic clubs, volunteering clubs, and some special interest clubs like a dance club) that do meet weekly. However, it seems as if all of the meetings are on Sunday (excepting special excursions), because that's the only time the students have nothing already in their schedule.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16668364113404409861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8514554862560409296.post-33294753700940381572012-09-01T22:39:12.486+09:002012-09-01T22:39:12.486+09:00"Some students play soccer after lunch, but t..."Some students play soccer after lunch, but there are no sports teams. There are no drama clubs, no music classes, no school publications, no student organizations of any kind."

For the record, that makes me very sad. All of those things enrich and expand, aside from having their own intrinsic values, and so they're really, REALLY missing out.

But anyway, how exciting!

(My high school was rebuilt while I was going there--we started using the new building the second half of my senior year. Every single classroom in the new building had--and I assume still has--a Smartboard. There are high schools sort of like that in Japan, where they have six days of classes each week instead of five and like seven or eight hours of classes, but even those schools still have clubs and sports teams. In Japan most kids who don't go to high schools that have lots of extra classes go to cram schools. I can rant for a very long time about all the things that bother me about it.

Lucky you are in a nice new school! The fact that it is small is also good 'cause you'll be able to connect with the students and memorize a lot of their names. Good luck!

Erikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919235036858056607noreply@blogger.com
